A Rainy Day Proposal at Mt. Fuji – When the Rain Stopped at the Perfect Moment
Planning a proposal in Japan can be an exciting experience, but when you choose an outdoor location such as Mt. Fuji, the weather can always be a little unpredictable.
Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing a very special engagement proposal near Mt. Fuji. The weather forecast was not ideal, and rain was expected on the day of the photoshoot. However, sometimes the weather gives you a little surprise — and this proposal turned out to be one of those days.
Planning the Proposal Around the Weather
Before the photoshoot, we stayed in close contact and carefully monitored the weather forecast.
For a proposal, choosing the right location and timing is especially important. It’s not only about finding a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji, but also about finding a place where the couple can enjoy the moment comfortably and where I can photograph the proposal naturally without revealing the surprise.
Because the weather was uncertain, we discussed different options and kept checking the forecast leading up to the day.
As a local photographer, I always try to prepare several possibilities when the weather is unpredictable. Mt. Fuji can change dramatically depending on the clouds, rain, and visibility, so flexibility is an important part of planning an outdoor proposal.
The Rain Stopped at the Perfect Moment
On the day of the proposal, it was raining.
Of course, rain is never something we can control, and there was a possibility that we would need to change the plan depending on the conditions.
But then, just as the proposal was about to happen, the rain stopped.
It was almost as if the weather had decided to give us a few minutes of perfect timing.
The proposal went ahead, and I was able to capture the moment when he got down on one knee and asked the most important question.
For me, these unexpected moments are one of the most memorable parts of being a proposal photographer. You can plan the location, timing, and photography, but you can never completely plan what the weather will do.
Sometimes, the imperfect weather becomes part of the story.
